Male Anna's Hummingbird (Calypte anna) struts his stuff -- hovering midair above his perch on the summit of a Pacific Madrone (Arbutus menziesii). After rising straight up and spreading his tail (I heard a buzzing noise), he swooped around, then darted off-- only to return to the same perch several more times until I decided to move on.
