Church of the Holy Sepluchre

Church of the Holy Sepluchre

Traditional site where Jesus was crucified; His empty tomb; and four or five stations of the cross. A "status quo" decree from 1757 has led to the shared administration of this and other sites in Jerusalem. See the ladder over the door, at the right? For over 250 years, officials can't agree on who or how to remove it. In 1964, Pope Paul IV ordered that it remain in place until the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches reach a state of ecumenism. Still, the site seems in pretty good shape. The "ghost" images are people walking around. 0.7 sec at f/8.
