The highlight of our Jerusalem visit this year was a guided tour by Green Olive Tours <https://www.toursinenglish.com/
> Just the two of us. We walked around the old city in the morning. A different guide drove us around in greater Jerusalem in the afternoon. We were introduced to different perspectives, Palestinian and Israeli, by our Israeli guides. A wonderful tour and a highlight of our visit to Israel: highly recommended.

Somehow, a lot about Jerusalem feels fraught, political. There are many stories, many images, many layers to the archaeology. And which ones you pay attention to seem to carry political impact.

These images and associated text are not meant to have a Message. Just what I saw and experienced. So please do not try to read anything political here. I have no Solution to the complicated palimpsest or many-layered cake that is Jerusalem. [I leave out some of the postcard images you can find lots of places, and focus on what seems new to me. But you can still find some clichés here :-( ]

But it does all feel fraught, political. Which stories you pay attention to. Which images you focus on. Which archeological layers you excavate to, which you dig through and discard. Whose houses you clear to make space for more "important" activities.
May you have the time and space to explore on your own, should you feel so inclined.

We were on our own the first afternoon in Jerusalem, and enjoyed some shopping and walking around.
