Habitats
Trail F winds through grasslands, from forest, towards chaparral. Hayfields tarweed (Hemizona congesta ssp. luzulifolia) have found a favorable habitat to the right of the trail, in the bottom land. Serpentine grassland stretches up the hill, with serpentine rocks protruding. A rare lone blue oak (Quercus douglasii) sits on the hillside to the right, accompanied by a smaller coast live oak (Quercus agrifolia var. agrifolia). This view reminds me of Woody Woodward; it was a favorite of his. It might be interesting to compare this photo with some of his earlier historical images from the same place. Has the grassland grown or shrunk? Road F, 8:27 am.
