Lone Blue Oak (Quercus douglasii), Serpentine, and Tarweed

Lone Blue Oak (Quercus douglasii), Serpentine, and Tarweed

One of my favorite vistas. Looking toward the Bay from Trail F, the hayfields tarweed (Hemizona congesta ssp. luzulifolia) end abruptly at the margin of the serpentine grasslands. The blue oak is not alone, it is accompanied by a smaller coast live oak (Quercus agrifolia var. agrifolia). It might be interesting to compare this photo with some of my earlier historical images from the same place. Road F, 8:29 am.
