Coast to Ridge and Beyond

Coast to Ridge and Beyond

Looking further SE, toward Davenport. From the bottom, foreground: Pacific Ocean. Seaside cliffs: a sandy beach at the left, at the mouth of Molino Creek; Davenport Landing on the coastal side of Highway 1, then the old cement plant and Davenport at the right, on Highway 1. Swanton Road takes off from Highway 1, diviing down and up to cross Molino Creek, then taking a wide curve across the bench -- the NW part of the proposed Santa Cruz Redwoods National Monument. Molina Creek near the left, Agua Puera Creek beyond Davenport Landing, and San Vicente Creek above Davenport, drain the proposed monument. (The drainage this side of Davenport Landing is unnamed on my map.) The BLM lands proposed for the monument extend to the ridgetop. The Great Park lies beyond. Warrenella Road snakes up the ridgeline on the right, leaving Highway 1 between Davenport Landing and Davenport. Monterrey Bay can be glimpsed at the upper right. This view shows most of the proposed monument.
