Autumn Trail in Early July

Autumn Trail in Early July

The vegetation can be described as "crispy". Dessicated leaves of a California Buckeye (Aesculus californica) dominate; this tree knows when to give up an go into senescence. Perhaps the darker trunk is an oak? Green Toyon and red Poison Oak are also evident. Trail 8, Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve. 7/5/2021, 10:27 am.
