Browsing Deer

Browsing Deer

Making topiary of this young Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia (var agrifolia?)). They browse the young Live Oaks, restricting them to being low ground-hugging bushes. Then, when the bush gets wide enough, a shoot goes up in the middle, out of reach. It grows into a mature Live Oak tree. West of Road C, near Trail 18, not far from the Sun Research Center, 4/22/2011.
