I hope you can enjoy these images with the same openness I felt at Jasper Ridge in the early morning, with ever-changing, clear light and the time to be present.
The first folder here is an overview of my morning, with examples from each of the other folders. The rest are sequences or meditations on individual locations or creatures.
I entered Escobar Gate in the dissolving darkness, and was able to set up my tripod at a favorite valley oak before sunrise. Once again I could witness the moment when a still landscape -- almost holding its breath -- is suddenly flooded with warm sunlight. Everything changes. A sudden happiness.
I then wandered along Road F, wondering at the changing sky and new light on many of my old favorite vistas.
Accompanying me in the air was a kite, kiting in place against the sky, descending, and even capturing and devouring a vole. It was often there, reminding me to look around, be aware of the sky behind -- in between lost moments with a special view, the camera, and myself.
A lone buck wandered along a ridge, straight into the vista I had been obsessively capturing, again and again, with different perspectives, angles -- and light. He provided a special filip to the photography.
There are seven (!) folders in this collection. I suggest you start with the first one, Dawn Traverse. This encapsulates the whole morning, and provides an example or two of images from the other folders.
Then browse as you see fit. The folders are in rough chronological order, though the kite(s) appeared throughout the morning.
Be sure to visit #5, White-tailed Kite, if you like adventure. And check out #4, Buck. The other folders are meditations on some of my favorite subjects. These might be a bit boring, unless you are especially interested in the subject -- or are interested in obtaining a large-format print. The internet cannot really do justice to the luminous images in folders #2, 3, 4, 6, and 7.
