Preparing for Healing in Nature, docents and others from Green Foothills visited Windy Hill twice in September. On 9/20 we surveyed much of the open space preserve, walking from the summit down Spring Ridge to Sausal Pond at the bottom, and back up again via Hamm's Gulch Trail. Early morning views from the summit. On the way down and back up, forest, grassland, flowers, and more. And birds!! A kite, kiting!!

Then on 9/28, we focused on scoping out the outing near the top, walking from the picnic benches to a nice overlook a little ways down Hamm's Gulch Trail.

The first gallery shows landscapes, trees, plants, flowers, and a buck from the two outings -- ordered by location, roughly from summit to pond, top to bottom. The second gallery is a feast of bird photos from 9/20, many taken as we ambled through open grassland down Spring Ridge Trail. A kite kited overhead! We even saw a Green Heron in Sausal Pond. This gallery is organized roughly by species. Times and locations are noted in the captions.
