We glimpsed a Bald Eagle from Searsville Dam, too far away for my camera to resolve. Two of us walked to Monika's Bench, finding ourselves pretty close. There was time for one reasonable photo before the eagle took off -- with a companion! When I checked the photo, yes, there were two. Are they of different genders? Which is which??

Here are other birds too -- behavior, not just one record shot. A Red-tailed Hawk stretches and clears its throat, forgetting to put down the other foot. A Double-crested Cormorant spreads its wings and turns back and forth to dry its feathers. A Pied-billed Grebe (a new bird for me) dives and returns. California Quail, Anna's Hummingbird, Acorn Woodpecker, Caspian Tern, American Coot, Canada Geese, and a colorful duck waiting for your ID are also here. Please leave a comment on a photo if you have anything to share!

These photos mostly don't have any claim to artistic merit. They may show interesting behavior, or (for me) a rare sighting of Bald Eagles at Jasper Ridge.
