A typical spring walk around Sweet Springs Trail ends on Bear Paw with a rare sighting of Cedar Waxwings devouring Toyon berries -- joined by a Robin.
Recently, I also saw Robins and Bluebirds also eating Toyon berries, in my front yard:
<https://capturethelight.zenfolio.com/200131> . A demonstration of how a Cedar Waxwing can get a Toyon berry into its mouth, without using hands or claws, is at <https://capturethelight.zenfolio.com/bobcat> .
Apologies for the poor photo quality. The sun was bright and the shadows in the Toyon were deep. The Cedar Waxwings were elusive.
