Sitting on my front porch with Robin (Toews), we noticed a gift of robins mobbing the Toyon bush. (Yes, "gift" is a good collective noun for robins!) I had been wondering when some birds would come for the ripe berries. Later, I fired up my camera and caught a couple of birds in the act.

The Western Bluebird has somewhat similar colors to the original robin, Britain's official bird. Settlers here used the same name for a different bird.

For an interesting sequence showing how a Cedar Waxwing eats a Toyon berry, see <capturethelight.zenfolio.com/bobcat> .
