Serpentine 3

Serpentine 3

A vertical shot shows the serpentine rocks and grass at my feet. The looming serpentine rock dwarfs the distant moon. This is one of my favorite views on the Bird Transect Trail. A large serpentine rock rises from the grass, its red veins contrasting with the greens and blue-greens of the lichen on the rock, and the old and new grass. There is a field of serpentine rocks. The serpentine soil supports native grasses and wildflowers. We are looking west, toward Skyline. The waning moon moves toward the horizon, its bright side pointed at the risen sun. 9:43 am, here using the wide-angle lens and getting closer. (You can use the apparent size of the moon to judge the focal length of the lens.)
