We were walking with two dogs (on leash :-), CCW around Sweet Springs Trail, Portola Valley Ranch. Approaching the little bridge before the last uphill along the border of the Hawthorn's Estate, we came upon a man with two leashed dogs, feeling followed and hassled by this coyote. The coyote barked and displayed for several minutes -- from a distance of perhaps 15-20 feet, looking down on us -- as I took photos. Then it followed us up the hill, continuing to complain as we walked along the trail. Another coyote appeared. Altogether an exceptional encounter!
