Here are photos of representatives of the animal kingdom: they are not plants.

I have tentatively identified the first three as my best ones, to submit for the JR annual report. If you prefer a different three, please let me know; a comment on a photo will work. I do enjoy making these images. Selecting among those I like is difficult for me -- and depends on the user and her objectives as well.

UPDATE 10/25/2021: Based on your input and my reconsideration, here is the new top 3:

Rattlesnake remains #1.

After much back-and-forth, Kite Landing remains #2. I have many nice photos of the two juvenile kites from that day, and several would be good. "Siblings", one in the air, one sitting looking away, is also quite good and was close to being selected. Others are good too.

The Skipper Butterfly on the Hayfields Tarweed has been moved up to #3. I especially like the close-cropped version, but will leave it up to Jasper Ridge to select the cropping that fits their needs.

The Acorn Woodpecker and all the other juvenile Kites were left out -- only three were selected for submission, just like the Nobel Prizes.
