The moon, just past full, sets over Skyline. Searsville Lake rests in the quiet morning air, held in place by Searsville Dam. From the chaparral patch along Trail 8 above the lake, we can see the sunlight creeping down tbe water-loving California Bay trees. Across the lake, oak woodlands show evidence of Sudden Oak Death. The dead conifers and Skyline Ridge lie beyond the borders of Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve.
