Tarantula Prosoma

Tarantula Prosoma

The prosoma is the front of the two major body segments; the other one, the abdomen, is at the bottom -- covered in red hairs. The 8 eyes are on a protrusion toward the top. Eight legs radiate outwards. Forward of the legs are the pedipalpi, used to grip prey. The two hairy appendages at the front (top) are chelicerae; these contain the venom glands.
