Winter Ant (Prenolepis imparis) on Vetch

Winter Ant (Prenolepis imparis) on Vetch

Old Spanish Trail, Coal Mine Ridge. The Winter Ant is a native ant. While the invasive Argentine Ant has taken over our homes, the native ants hold their own in the wilderness. Please be careful not to introduce Argentine Ants where they are not found. They are often spread by planting plants from nurseries. Almost all nurseries, even native plant nurseries, are infested with Argentine Ants. Special care is needed.
