Foundation for the World's Largest Stupa (Planned)

Foundation for the World's Largest Stupa (Planned)

Construction stopped at the king's death. We climbed up this massive structure, and visited other temples nearby. TheDude Wikipedia (1/2012) call this the Mingun Pahtodawgyi. Begun by king Bodawpaya in 1790. An astrologer is said to have predicted that, once the temple was finished, the king would die. The temple was never finished. The king died anyway. For views from the top, and activity at the base, see "People of Myanmar".
