Male Western Bluebird (Sialia mexicana)
Resting in a valley oak after flying above the grass, hovering, hunting for insects. Lace lichen covers the oak’s branches. Western bluebirds eat mainly ground-dwelling insects in summer, adding fruits and seeds in winter.
