Chaparral's Margin

Chaparral's Margin

Pungent light-green California sagebrush (Artemesia californica); bright orange sticky monkeyflower (Mimuls aurantiacus var. aurantiacus); tall chamise (Adeenostoma fasciculatum), with white flowers; dark green coyote brush (Baccharis pilulris), the mother of the forest, mixed in on the right; and an anchor valley oak (Quercus lobata), high on the left -- I call this the "Chaparral Valley Oak", it lies on Road F. Trail 16, 9:10 am, looking toward the fog-covered skyline.
