In the afternoon, Kenji led the way up a small stream, starting above Matthes Lake and climbing up towards the left flank of Cockscomb. What a wanderful, wonderful garden! We kept remarking -- this is what Zen gardeners aim for, to intentionally recreate what happened naturally, here. Who planted this?

As we reached the top of the draw, a wonderful huge loud thunderstorm enveloped us, hammering us with hail. Then it cleared for our walk back to camp.
