Western Honeybee (Apis mellifera) and Ant on Flowers of California Buckeye (Aesculuis californica)

Western Honeybee (Apis mellifera) and Ant on Flowers of California Buckeye (Aesculuis californica)

Honeybees are not native here. Buckeye flowers are not good for them: bees get a syndrome called "Buckeye Bee", losing focus, breeding defective larvae, etc. But nobody told this bee. The flowers are ending their lifespan; soon buckeye seeds will appear. Joan Targ Trail, Portola Valley 6/16/2021, 8:25 am.
