Place: Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve. In the serpentine grassland, taken facing south from Road F, between Trail 3 and Trail 9.
Subject: California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) (detail).

I took several close-up images of this poppy with my 105 mm macro lens, as the flower waved back and forth in the breeze. I like the background of this image. It is very out of focus, showing the average color in each direction, from the greens and browns of the ground to the blue sky.
