Hidden Villa Farm and Wilderness Preserve, located in the hills up Moody Road from Hwy 280/Foothill College and above Los Altos Hills, is the location for an extraordinary set of programs. Focused primarily on children and youth, these programs build confidence and empower children to deal with the diverse world we live in. Our Summer Camp, founded in 1945 by Josephine Duveneck, is the oldest multicultural and racially integrated summer camp in the country. Check out <http://www.hiddenvilla.org/> for information about the Camp, Hostel, the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, HVEEP, and more.
Our children both went to HV summer camp. I have been more deeply involved since 2000 or before. For a decade, off and on, I was on the Board. I continue to volunteer with HVEEP -- the HV Environmental Education Program. We guide schoolchildren for a day of exploration of our wilderness, garden, and farm, including visits with the farm animals. Just this week, a happy child said to me at the end of our day, "This was the best field trip ever!" We get a lot of this. You can volunteer too -- check out the web site.
These images are in four galleries. PLACES concentrates on the wilderness, and the birds, bugs, and lizards that live there. There are also images of the historic structures and some more modern sustainable buildings, and the farm. They are in somewhat random order -- keep looking!
ANIMALS are domesticated farm animals, some with people too; wild animals are in PLACES. PEOPLE runs the gamut from HVEEP, Summer Camp, CSA, and other visits. There are even some semi-archival images of board meetings and HV staff. TEXTURES, requested by HV, contain a few images of the textures of HV.
Your COMMENTS are always welcome -- including more info or questions re the content of the images. There is a place to add a comment at each image.
