1933 map of Asia and adjacent regions: National Geographic Society. Dan's grandfather, James P. Leake, saved it and passed it on. From the November 1933 issue of National Geographic Magazine.

Closer in time (barely) to the ancient events depicted in Amitav Ghosh's "In an Antique Land". With details of Cairo, Aden, and southern India around Calicut.

The legends (near the end) are interesting. The legend gives two "national names" for Palestine in 1933: Palestina and Erez Yisrael. Tibet is a separate country, with a Chinese and (Tibetan?) name and spelling.
