Arroyo Trail drops from the crest of Coal Mine Ridge back down toward the settled part of Portola Valley Ranch. Along the way, it passes two deep canyons -- thus its original name, "Dos Arroyos". You pass through several different ecosystems on the way down, from meadow to forest.

Two more connector trails lead to the wider trail system in Blue Oaks. Occasional breaks in the forest reveal glimpses out across the Bay.
