Birds large and small grace Portola Valley Ranch in April 2026. Great Egret and Mallards in the Frog Pond. In forest along Sweet Springs and Deer Path Trails: Turkey Vulture, Spotted Towhee, White-crowned Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, and California Towhee. In more open country along Deer Path Trail: Lesser Goldfinch, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Golden-crowned Sparrow, and House Finch.
