White-tailed Kite watches from top of bare Valley Oak. Then lifts into the air, cruises for the right spot, and kites: holds place with beating wings. Descends smoothly to grab prey. Returns to perch, carrying plump prize. Breakfasts in treetop, safe from rivals, eating a bite at a time. A half hour with kite earns a separate photo gallery.
