Approaching the dam, the tour pauses to give space to a Great Blue Heron, perched majestically on the railing. It seems intent on distant concerns, not paying any attention to the approaching group. Finally it lifts off to join its mate in a nearby bare snag; then they both spread wings and lift off across the lake. Broad smooth wingbeats.
