Oblivious to the “news” of the day, creation unfolds.
Hound’s Tongue pushes up from deep underground, once more preparing to offer its otherworldly blue blossoms this spring.
The Buckeye buds, continuing the cycle of metabolism and reproduction: maintain yourself and pass it on.
Anna’s Hummingbird ascends to the heavens, and dives, pulling out at the last instant; tail feathers spread: chirp! A mating dance. Who ordered that? There may be other ways to perpetuate the species; this delights.
Beyond ecosystem services, necessary for our mutual survival here, we are surrounded by delight. Is delight also essential? Otherwise, why bother?
Do keep up with the “news”, both short term and long, as much as is healthy for you. (It will get worse. What have we done to ourselves? To what end?) Do what you can to help – or at least stay out of the way. And take care of yourself: stay open to delight.
Build community.
