Mistletoe-bedecked Valley Oak (Quercus lobata)

Mistletoe-bedecked Valley Oak (Quercus lobata)

Grey day. Both on the way out along Road F to the Ridge, and on the way back, I encountered a mixed flock, busy in the branches here. Each bird would fly up and then back to a perch: typical flight when hunting insects. Despite the cold dark drizzle, I do believe these birds were eating insects. What do you think? Here are some (blurred) photos of the action. 12/16/2024 on the Audubon Christmas Bird Count. 8:23 am. In the distance along Road F: the lone Valley Oak.
