Walking in and near Portola Valley Ranch, waiting for the rains, we see:

A Great Blue Heron walking the Frog Pond;
A handsome coyote matriarch, watching us watching her, in Mader Valley;
Big leaves of Big-leaf Maple painting the lower bridge on Blue Oak Trail;
A mob of crows gathered to hassle a hawk;
A hummingbird landing on a twig; and
A Golden-crowned Sparrow, returning to serenade us all.

Back from our morning hike, on our deck:
A titmouse taking a bath – along with other birds, taking turns.

Now the rainy season begins with a flourish. Buckeyes litter the trails. Enjoy the moist trails and moist woods, the deep scents and colors!
