Torrential rains douse Jasper Ridge; muddy water streams into Searsville Lake, and after dropping most sediment to add to the record at the lake bottom, over the dam. Plants and flowers stick their heads up, opening up to greet the sun. A cormorant perches on a snag over muddy lake waters, drying off.

High winds bring down trees: one across Leonard’s Bridge. Acorn Woodpeckers discover their beloved granary tree, across the road below the Sun Field Station, has blown over. All that work, and the tree will soon be taken away!
