A rainy day has its rewards. Spring colors – new bright green grass, and oak catkins, old Poison Oak – become saturated (no pun intended). Drops reflect and refract the views. This day was quite manageable.

We did encounter serious flooding in the lowlands, before Trail 9 climbs out of the serpentine grassland lining the road. Lots of water flowing past. Warrior’s Plume is stunning, rising from the oak roots in several locations. Fungus on branches and beneath ground thrives.

At the start of the walk, we notice a low bank of fog beneath the rainclouds, obscuring our view of the Bay. Later, the view of Stanford and the Bay opens up.
