Corte Madera Creek was in full flow on New Year's Eve, bank to bank pulsing with powerful sediment-filled flow. All headed for Searsville Lake -- which will turn into a meadow one of these years unless something is done.

Here are photos from along Eagle Trail, below upper Alpine Road. One photo of a landslide onto the road, removed soon thereafter. And comparisons from other times: one and two days later, as the waters receded; and from October 2021, when some vegetation grew on an island in the creek, now scraped clean.

Eagle Trail itself is under more threat each rainstorm. One day, the creek is going to pull down the cliff and some of the trail will be gone.

Isn't it wonderful to live on a planet where water is recycled, from ocean to sky to river and back? Without us having to do anything -- except to stay out of the way?
