The four Galilean Moons are clearly visible. Jupiter is in opposition, which happens every 12 years. This time Jupiter is close to perihelion -- now 368 million miles away. It can be up to 415 million miles away at opposition; it gets this close every 60 years or so. From Portola Valley Ranch, 9/26/2022, 9:00 pm. Second photo taken with my Sony RX10 camera at full zoom: 1/80 sec, f/4, ISO 800, 600 mm focal length equivalent, cropped.

The next evening, 9/27, I was surprised to see one moon move over to the other side of Jupiter. I tried a different camera setting, giving smaller spots. I also tried to look closely at Jupiter itself, by reducing the exposure.
