A lone tarantula wanders through the grassland and across the trail, hounded by a photographer and focused on by a dog, wondering what his morning companion is so interested in. Deer Path Trail near the lone Blue Oak, Portola Valley Ranch. A minute's adventure, about 8:30 am.
Several tarantulas have been spotted at Jasper Ridge recently. It must be the season. Full moon, a tiny bit of rain possibly coming after a long dry spell, who knows? Ask the tarantula.
