On a tour starting at foggy Searsville Lake, I am not the lead docent, so I can use my camera a bit more. The lake is dry, a puddle. Egrets wade, catching fish with abandon -- the fish have few places to hide. The drying mud cracks. Deer browse in the former lake bed.

In the Preserve above the lake, autumn has set in. Rust-red is a predominant color, vying with dusty green. Another dry season, the second year of a record-breaking dearth of rainfall. Let us hope the rains return some day. Meanwhile, watch the world change into a new climate regime.
