Serpentine, Goldfields, Oaks, Mistletoe
California goldfields (Lasthenia californica) bloom in the serpentine soil, around the exposed rocks. This valley oak (Quercus lobata) harbors sprigs of mistletoe. The hill beyond is covered in blue oaks (Q. douglasii, bluish-green on the left) and coast live oaks (Q. agrifolia, darker green on the right).
