To celebrate my (major) birthday, I spent midmorning wandering the Frog Pond across the street. There are many non-native plants there -- exotic? Naturalized? As a California non-native myself, I prefer "naturalized" for most of these. (And there are some "aggressive exotic" plants trying for a foothold here, that should be pulled without question. The ones that take over. That spoil the place for native plants and animals.)

Here are a few photos, local natives to naturalized to perhaps an aggressive exotic; plants, birds, and insects; landscape scale, individual plants, flowers, leaves, and fungus.

Take some time. Go outdoors. Look.

Enjoy!
