Madrone and Live Oaks Guard Toyon Trail
Pacific Madrone (Arbutus menziesii) guard the trail, displaying the various ways their bark can develop; beyond, an overhanging Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia) gives one more reason that this is not an equestrian trail. Madrone leaves litter the sides of the trail. Mid Toyon Trail, the trail connection just below the ridge and the Grandmother Oak. 8/14/2020, 8:34 am. iPhone photo.
