At about the same sun time, just after sunset, and in the same place, the Frog Pond in Portola Valley: a coyote, again. (The previous encounter ended badly for a gopher -- see my coyote collection nearby.) I am not sure if this is the same one or not.

Acutely aware of my presence, this coyote wandered the open space in Frog Pond Park, eventually trotting along the path and out toward Alpine Road across the pond. When they* were not looking at me, they kept their big ears pointed at me, alert for any sound of movement or threat.

A passerby told me that he had seen a second coyote as well. This one was clearly looking for something or someone as they moseyed off along the trails and toward Alpine Road.

*They: becoming the gender-neutral third person singular pronoun. Following "you" to gender neutrality.
