A morning walk, in the RAIN! Our first rain in over a month -- during our "rainy season". (I do hope this drought is not the new normal.)

We walked out Black Oak Trail and back Los Trancos Trail along Los Trancos Road, back into Portola Valley Ranch, and home.

The moss was green, soaking up the raindrops. Drops bedecked flowers and new leaves. We saw Solomon's Seal aka Solomon; Trillium, in a rare light pink shade as well as the usual dramatic dark purple-red; Checkerspot Lily; climbing Man-Root, aka wild cucumber; Hound's Tongue of course; Wood Strawberry, rare for this area; Blue Witch; Poison Oak, new leaves coming out; new oak leaves; California Buckeye at various stages -- from fully leafed out, with flower spikes beginning, to just putting out new leaves; Ceanothus; Madrone; Willow; Manzanita; a lonely Suncup; and more.

The native bees on Bear Paw were taking the (wet) day off. Or are they done for this year? The hummingbird was still at his perch at the top of the scraggly redwood tree at the end of Bear Paw.

All these photos were taken with my iPhone. I left my other camera behind, safe and dry.

Enjoy the spring. Think rain!!
