The "Downward Coyote" is an exaggerated version of Yoga's "Downward Dog" position. Here is a demonstration.

Helen, Grizzly, and I met this young Coyote as we started our walk this morning. The coyote was not too alarmed, even a bit curious. I did not reciprocate its approach, so lost the chance for closer interaction. I just kept focusing and photographing.

A sequence of 29 photos, taken in a little over a minute. A close encounter -- with a fellow inhabitant of Earth.

Sylvie Anacker comments: "The 'downward facing' pose can be a signal for play, though sometimes it's just a stretch. Since she seemed to be open to interacting with you I wonder if she meant to play with that display. Whatever it was, it was gorgeous!"

She was clearly looking my way during her stretch. And later, while crossing near me, she turned back in the middle of the street and took a few steps toward me, looking straight at me as if expecting something. Then (seeming to shrug her shoulders), turned and trotted away.

I do enjoy sharing the world with other beings.
