The three days since my previous outing from Escobar Gate were peppered with rain. This morning was haunted by changing forecasts: cloudy? rain? overcast? In the event, it was a nice morning, with cloudy skies occasionally pierced by sunlight. As I was driving home, rain wet my windshield.

So Helen and I had a pleasant walk through the serpentine grasslands and even serpentine woodlands of Jasper Ridge, with old friends and new who often walk together. We saw much of what Helen and I had seen three days earlier -- even the Woodpecker (Hairy?) in the "Phainopepla Tree". One new encounter: a Coastal Newt, ambling across Road F as we approached. The road actually seemed less sloppy than three days ago, despite the intervening rain.
