Two Valley Oaks (Quercus lobata) (2)

Two Valley Oaks (Quercus lobata) (2)

Another view of the two oaks along Road F. The firse one on the right is vigorous and covered in mistletoe. The one on the ridge beyond, the "Phainopepla Tree", has not sprouted any leaves this year; even its mistletoe is leafless. Actually, there is a third valley oak here: sticking into the frame from the left, the "Chaparral Valley Oak", along with a little representative of the chaparral, California sagebrush (Artemesia californica). Non-native thistle invades the grassland in the foreground. Coyote brush has a beachhead in the grassland before the "Phainopepla Tree". 6:09 am.
