Valley Oak (Quercus lobata) with Toyon (Heteromeles arbutifolia) (3)

Valley Oak (Quercus lobata) with Toyon (Heteromeles arbutifolia) (3)

The toyon has lost its red berries: robins or cedar waxwing, or both? Its leaves are turning orange and red now that the rain has stopped. The valley oak, with its deep roots, is covered in new productive green leaves. The annual European grasses have all turned "golden", as we say. From Trail 15, 8:45 am.
