Lace Lichen and Fog Wave

Lace Lichen and Fog Wave

Lace lichen (Ramalina menziesii) covers the old valley oak in the foreground. Heading for Searsville Lake, Corte Madera Creek has cut the deep valley in the middle distance, along the San Andreas Fault. Beyond, the coast range rises to Skyline, covered in fog. Slow-motion waves rise and fall as the fog is caressed by the breeze. To the right, the SLAC power lines come down from Skyline, to cross Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve on their way to the accelerator. We took a little detour up the bottom of Trail 11. 7:27 am.
